Coastwatch Scotland is a registered charity set up to keep a watch on beaches and sea areas where there is a high level of activities. eg on Irvine beach on any reasonable day activities such as families walking, horse riding, kite carts, trial bikes, quad bikes, wind surfing, kitesurfing, jet skis, canoeing, swimming, boating, can be ongoing in the same day.
There are more activities on our beaches now than ever before. Our aims are to assist in the preservation and protection of life at sea and along the coastline in particular by the provision of Lookout Stations for the public benefit. To establish and maintain an organisation of skilled volunteers to provide a service ashore and afloat in the interests of the general public and wildlife.
Coastwatch Scotland is run by volunteers and as such is constantly on the look out for new members. Men and women of all ages are welcome, no previous experience necessary. We also require people with the skills to teach and pass on local knowledge to our Volunteers.
The hope is to form many units throughout Scotland where there are areas of high activity. Coastwatch Volunteers will also liaise with the emergency services and local authorities as required keeping them updated and assisting as requested.
The constitution of Coastwatch Scotland is available by clicking here. If you have some spare time or you are semi-retired/retired and are looking for something interesting or if you have the experience to pass on please use the web form on this site to contact us..
If you identify an area of high activity anywhere in Scotland and are interested in setting up a unit please contact us.
